Product description is mis-leading - this is NOT HC (high-capacity) reader [Posted on 2008-09-03] Being unable to give "Zero or Negative" stars...
I got two of these, hoping to be able to read my 4gb and 8gb SDHC cards. Unfortunately, this reader does not recognize them. Hey, even garden-variety 2GB cards are not recognized... The product packaging itself does not mention HC either...
But - at five bucks, it even does not deserve returning back...
Doesn't work [Posted on 2008-09-11] PC doesn't recognize the reader. I bought it to read my 8gig card. Everything fits fine but my PC does not recognize it. At my computer I double click on removable disk and get "please insert a disk into drive F", I right click and it says 0 for all capacity.
running: Windows XP media center edition w/ SPII & III
..must there always be a catch when you get stuff free?!?!
excellent [Posted on 2008-09-14] We like to video a lot of travel in the hills. Havin a memory card and a small design to down load our movies is ideal.
No workie workie [Posted on 2008-10-19] This item does not work. I have tried one two computers. I'd say spend the extra ten bucks and get a good working reader. I have one that works great. These little key looking ones, I have 2. Neither work. The other one is from I/O gear.
Best of luck finding a good working car reader. Took me 3 tries.
Cheap chinese crap [Posted on 2008-10-22] I'm now on my 4th one of these only because a friend bought them cheap in bulk and keeps replacing them for free. Basically they work fine for a time but with repeated connecting and disconnecting to USB port they all eventually failed. Maybe about one hundred connections. I guess you get what you pay for. They are not built solid and the PC board inside starts floating around after only a few connections. If you don't mind replacing them frequently then go ahead and buy one. In fact buy a bunch because over time you'll need them.
