If you are concern with the Fax function interrupting an establish voice call. Canon has an F/W update. Canon's Knowledge Base has method to check F/W version and download instructions.
The MX700 I purchased contained the updated firmware.
Good AIO printer [Posted on 2008-11-12] This is my second Canon AIO printer; black and white printing is fast, not overly noisy, the colors on color printing are a little off, but I haven't played with adjusting them yet. Scanning with Adobe Acrobat works smoothly and PDF quality is good. I like having separate ink tanks, haven't used the printer enough to determine how economical it is to use. Altogether, I'm satisfied.
Works Fine [Posted on 2008-11-12] I've only had this printer about two months but it works fine for my purposes. It prints both text and pictures. My HP had trouble dealing with glossy photo paper. I have not encountered this problem with this printer. I cannot comment on the FAX function as I have not used it.
When Will Canon Get the Hint [Posted on 2008-11-15] When will Canon get the hint to start incorporating the PC Fax feature into their machines to recieve and transmit from and into the PC. They want you to use ink, that's what it's all about. I love canon machines they work great, but without this feature I won't buy another canon. If they ever start incorporting this feature I'll look at them again.
Canon Pixma MX700 printer [Posted on 2008-11-16] I am entirely happy with my new Canon Pixma MX700. It prints beautifully and very quickly. I like the smaller size and especially love the auto-feed tray. I've had Canon printers both at work and home for the last 6 years and have always found them to be dependable and inexpensive to use.
